What we do

Initial appointments are 60 - 90 minutes. During our first meeting we talk about your current eating and exercise habits, medical history, and goals. Together we formulate an initial eating plan that fits into your lifestyle whether you like to cook gourmet meals or eat out every night.

We don't necessarily tell you exactly what to eat but we guide you toward healthier food choices and/or portions based on what your body is telling you. We also formulate realistic goals whether they be to lose weight, decrease your blood sugar or blood pressure, build a healthier relationship with food, or just feel healthier.

Follow up appointments are 30, 45 or 60 minutes based on your needs. At these appointments we review your food records and evaluate the eating plan, discuss any concerns and if necessary make modifications. We also evaluate objective markers of your progress, such as: blood glucose readings for diabetics, hunger/satiety scale for emotional eaters, or tracking gastrointestinal symptoms for GI conditions, and reassess goals if necessary. We will support you in achieving your personalized goals.

What we DON'T do
  • We do not judge, berate, belittle or reprimand you if you don't meet your goals or are not perfect (we're not either).
  • We don't write prescriptions for weight loss. We will collaborate with your treatment team to help achieve your health goals.
  • We do not provide quick weight loss diets, nor do we endorse them.
  • We do not sell or endorse weight loss supplements.
  • We do not say that making an eating change is easy but we do say that it's worth the time and effort it takes if it makes you healthier, feel better or happier.
  • Remember that nothing is written in stone. Just like life has it's ups and downs so will your eating.
